How SCORE helped.

Score mentors gave valuable advice in making critical hiring and termination decisions, focusing effectively on cash management, assessing various financing strategies, and guidance on tax implications. On top of that, Joy and Alan helped me balance priorities and focus on where I needed to be to achieve success.

There are no words to thank Joy, Alan, and SCORE for their amazing support.

SCORE is a tremendous resource to help entrepreneurs, and I look forward to the day that I can be a SCORE mentor for others. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

What's great about my mentor?

Joy suggested that at our next meeting, she include Alan Englander because his financial acumen and business savvy would be tremendously beneficial to me as well… and they certainly were. Over the last five years, Joy and Alan have been instrumental in helping me grow as a business owner. They have been two of my greatest cheerleaders, giving me strength, confidence, and encouragement, as well as offering firm guidance when I needed it, enabling me to truly grow as a leader.

They challenge me when I need to be challenged, push me when I need to be pushed, and pick me up when I need to be picked up. I can’t put into words how much their guidance and support have meant to me throughout the years. They have had a tremendous impact on my and my company’s success. I consistently get caught up in the day-to-day details of running my business, yet they remind me to meet with them. I leave each of those meetings with clarity, a new perspective, and a better direction, feeling empowered and confident about my company’s future.

My Challenges

It was a freezing day in February 5 years ago when I went to my first SCORE meeting. I had started my business about a year and a half earlier and had heard wonderful things about the organization. I knew I needed outside help and guidance, and it was amazing to hear that there was a free resource with experts lending their experience and knowledge.

I met with Joy Giuliano and we immediately hit it off! She was supportive and knowledgeable. I was happy to have met a mentor who had years of experience both in sales and in the pharmaceutical industry.
