Our next mentor that we are highlighting is Bruce Fisher.  Bruce has been a SCORE volunteer for over eight years serving not only as a mentor but also in various administrative roles in the Chapter.  Here is some information on Bruce, in his own words.

Bruce’s business background is extensive:

“I have spent the bulk of my professional career in all aspects of business development, including: sales, marketing, new product creation, mergers & acquisitions, and international sourcing and market development.  Along the way, I had the opportunity to be a senior P & L executive which allowed me to gain a thorough understanding of the financial aspects of leading a profitable, growing business.  With experience in multiple manufacturing companies serving different industries; chain retailing, both big box and specialty stores, and serving as a member of the Board of Directors of various Private Equity owned companies, I feel comfortable working with all types of clients who need the advice and counsel of a SCORE mentor.”

We asked Bruce what attracted him to SCORE:

“Helping colleagues succeed in business was always a passion of mine and when I was first introduced to SCORE by a family friend, it was clear to me that this activity would be an ideal investment of my time once I retired.  Due to being an entrepreneur at heart, working with SCORE clients provides me the opportunity to mentor courageous business people who are willing to take the plunge in starting or managing their own company.”

Bruce explains how he helps the many clients of SCORE he has worked with over the years:

“From the beginning of my professional career, I was always focused on creating differentiated solutions for customers.  This philosophy evolved to the point where I developed a thorough understanding of the importance of a strong Value Proposition as the foundational variable for building a successful business.  Along with identifying a company's Ideal Customer and creating the right focus for accessing the market, these two pillars form the basis of where I start with each client.  If the foundation is right, the odds of success go up incrementally.”
